About Us

Dottir is the Icelandic spelling of "daughter". Dottir Shop was inspired by our founder Lauren's Nordic roots and an admiration for the way the women of Scandinavia don't let trends define how they dress. Scandi style is all about simplicity, functionality, and effortless elegance. It blends minimalism with practicality and utilizes a color palette that is understated but sophisticated. 

The company was started as an online shop in September of 2020 and in 2022 began doing pop-ups and markets in the Richmond, Virginia area. In April of 2025, Dottir's first brick and mortar location opened at 2509 East Broad Street in the historic Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond. 

At Dottir, our focus is on sourcing beautiful apparel in natural tones and flattering silhouettes. We're known for our whimsical assortment, high-quality basics, and Scandinavian-inspired designs. We also love to spotlight women-owned and ethical brands such as Océanne Jewelry and Polished Prints as well as those making good use of waste like Melie Bianco's beautiful recycled vegan leather handbags. You can also find a selection of nordic gift ideas at our shop such as books, tea, and Swedish gummy candy. 

Our goal is to make it easy for our customers to navigate the sea of options out there. We hope to be a place where you can find clothing you will wear for years, including pieces that mix well with the rest of your wardrobe and fabrics that feel good on both your skin and your conscience.
